WE INVITE the Knights, Dames, and Companions of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem and their Guests to join us for the 58th Grand Convent and Investiture May 20 – 23, 2020, in Fort Worth, Texas! Registration opens July 15, 2019!!

Fort Worth, Texas – Where the West Begins! Fort Worth was established in 1849 and has historically been the center of the Longhorn Cattle trade. A city that embraces its Western heritage and traditional architecture.

The westernmost railhead and a transit point for cattle shipment in 1876 the “Queen City of the Prairies” has continued to grow and become a jewel in the Southwest. While embracing its heritage, the city is now home to Kimbell Art Museum designed by Louis Kahn, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art and the Sid Richardson Museum that together have the largest collection of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell pieces in the country. Fort Worth is proud to be home to one of the top five Zoos in the US.

The city prides itself on the vibrancy of downtown. The center of the city is Sundance Square. Thanks to the City benefactors, the City still maintains the original Stockyards; the original true “stock” market in the west. The White Elephant Saloon from 1890 is still drawing a crowd and is across the street from the Stockyards Hotel where the famous picture of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was taken. The Stockyards is home to the largest Honky Tonk – Billy Bob’s, boot and hat makers, and some of the best real barbeque.

The host hotel, The Omni, is a stunning blend of native building materials and ultra-modern glass; Omni Fort Worth Hotel represents progressive luxury and offers amenities illustrating the Western spirit embodied by the city that surrounds it. As breathtaking as any West Texas sunset, Omni Fort Worth Hotel offers a taste of Texas hospitality, conveniently located in the heart of Fort Worth’s exciting downtown.

The Thursday welcome dinner will be a CHUCK WAGON steak dinner in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards. For the spouses and guests Thursday will offer visits to the Kimball, Amon Carter, the Modern Museums and the Fort Worth Zoo. Following the Chuck Wagon Dinner there will be the opportunity to enjoy the White Elephant Saloon or Billy Bob’s and the indoor bull riding or mechanical bull!!

We invite you to arrive early and stay late to enjoy all the city has to offer. “Hell’s Half-Acre” has become a 350 square mile city on the cutting edge of technology, education, science and the arts.

Registration is now open! Log in with your SMOTJ member credentials to register.
